About
thetalens is a free, open-methodology filtering tool for Indian F&O stocks. It does not predict price movements, recommend trades, or provide personalized advice. It computes objective metrics — annualized premium yield, distance from support and resistance levels, open interest, implied volatility — from publicly available NSE end-of-day data, and lets you filter on those metrics. The decision to trade, and the responsibility for that decision, is entirely yours.
The screener is purpose-built for the wheel strategy. It defaults to out-of-the-money puts on the 49 most-liquid F&O stocks and surfaces the math most wheel traders compute by hand — premium earned, capital reserved, breakeven buffer, effective cost basis after assignment.
Who operates this
thetalens is run as a solo side project by a retail trader. The operator is not registered with SEBI as a Research Analyst or Investment Adviser, and this tool deliberately stays inside the line SEBI draws between "describing market attributes" (which anyone may do) and "recommending specific securities" (which requires registration). In practice this means:
- No "today's candidates" list or curated picks
- No composite score that ranks stocks by a single number
- No alerts, newsletters, or messages about specific strikes or stocks
- No commentary on what you should or shouldn't trade
What the data is
All prices, open interest, and volume figures are pulled from NSE's public EOD bhavcopy (UDiFF format). Earnings dates come from NSE's corporate events calendar. Support and resistance levels are detected from 180 days of OHLC by an in-house algorithm documented on the methodology page. Nothing on this site comes from a broker API or a paid vendor; everything is sourced from NSE's own archives.
Data is end-of-day only. The last-update timestamp is visible at the top of the screener — if it lags more than one trading day, the nightly pipeline has failed and you should treat the numbers as stale.
Disclaimer
This is a research and filtering tool, not investment advice. The operator is not registered with SEBI as a Research Analyst or Investment Adviser. Options trading involves substantial risk of loss including loss of principal. All data is end-of-day and may be delayed or inaccurate. Consult a SEBI-registered adviser before making any trading decisions.
Feedback
If you spot a bug, a wrong number, or a level the detector should have flagged but didn't, please write in with the specific stock, strike, expiry, and what you expected — concrete reports are the only way the tool gets better.
